Notes/Highlights
Wrong beliefs:
1. “The more I know God, the more God would hold me accountable, and my punishment for falling short of His expectations would be more severe than someone else who know less.”
2. “The closer I drew to God, the more trials and tribulations”
The right belief:
The closer I draw to God, the closer I was to the answer to all my problems.
Wrong perception: As long as you continue to have a wrong perception of God and withdraw from Him, the devil can keep you bound in a life of defeat.
The devil wants us to fear God, so that we will not draw closer to Him
The devil wants us not to find the truth so that we remain in bondage by our own wrongdoing.
Stop believing the lie that God gives you sickness and diseases to punish you or teach you a lesson.
The good news of Jesus always liberates and His perfect love removes every fear.
Bible References:
then I will really show my anger! I—yes, I myself—will punish you seven times for your sins.
Leviticus 26:8
The fact is, it was our suffering he took on himself; he bore our pain. But we thought that God was punishing him, that God was beating him for something he did. 5But he was being punished for what we did. He was crushed because of our guilt. He took the punishment we deserved, and this brought us peace. We were healed because of his pain.
Isaiah 53:4-5
My soul, praise the Lord! Every part of me, praise his holy name! My soul, praise the Lord and never forget how kind he is! He forgives all our sins and heals all our sicknesses. He saves us from the grave, and he gives us love and compassion. 5He gives us plenty of good things. He makes us young again, like an eagle that grows new feathers.
Psalms 103:1-5
But I must not be too proud of the wonderful things that were shown to me. So a painful problem was given to me—an angel from Satan, sent to make me suffer, so that I would not think that I am better than anyone else.
2 Corinthians 12:7

The point about the Devil wanting us to fear God:
I would rephrase that to say that the Devil wants us to fear HIS power. If we fear only God, we cannot fear the Devil nor any man. If we reject God, we are left to suffer in torment among the dogs of Hell. When we fear something, we give it power over us. The Devil says, “Hey, I can give you what you want, I can give you power over others and bring glory to yourself.” He says, “God doesn’t exist, and even if he did, he’s nothing compared to me. You will suffer a meaningless life without me.” The Devil wants to be like God, he wants to BE God. So he deceives people to make himself appear more powerful. Images of the Devil make him look evil to give the illusion that he is to be feared, that he is the powerful one. When in fact he is, physically, a beautiful angel, but full of hate, and he drools over the opportunity to devour us. Glory be to God, the only one who can make us whole or can give us the choice to writhe in our wretched lives. He is the only one who would choose to suffer the torment for us to be able to be with Him, or even consider the thought that we are worth that sacrifice.
